The ICAReB platform is part of the Center for Translational Science (CRT), which aims at facilitating research on human being. It provide access to human bioresources (samples with associated clinical data) for Institut Pasteur scientists and external collaborators. The platform manages about twenty projects under three aspects :
As an investigator : cohorts protocols have been designed and healthy volunteers have been recruited and followed-up to develop new diagnostic methods in the field of infectious and tropical diseases to study the immune system and its genetic and environmental determinants. More than 30,000 samples from healthy volunteers are available for the scientific community.
- As a biobank : it manages bioresources collections of more than 150,000 various human samples (healthy volunteers or patients) from acquisition, through preparation and cryopreservation, to distribution.
- As a data-manager : it also manages the bioclinical data of the participants through the construction and implementation of databases.
