As part of the Institut Pasteur’s Medical Department’s Clinical Research Unit (DM-RC), INVOLvE’s mission is to carry out clinical investigation activities to enable the Institut Pasteur’s scientific teams or external collaborators (working in an academic structure or an industrial company, in France or abroad) to carry out research in biology and human health. INVOLvE acts both as an investigator centre providing care for research participants and as a platform interacting closely with scientific teams.
These clinical investigation activities are certified by AFNOR (ISO 9001- 2015 certification).
VOLvE is most often called upon to carry out fundamental research projects aimed at advancing knowledge or developing and improving analysis methods. More rarely, it carries out applied research projects aimed, for example, at developing diagnostic tests or evaluating medical devices.
To do this, the platform recruits, informs, collects data from and takes samples (usually blood) from people either from the general population, acting as controls, or from patients undergoing outpatient treatment, whose state of health is compatible with participation in the research projects.
