Within the clinical research center of the Medical Department (DM-RC) of the Institut Pasteur, the ICAReB-Clin platform aims to carry out clinical investigation activities in order to allow the scientific teams of the Institute Pasteur or external collaborators (working in an academic structure or an industrial company, in France or abroad) to carry out research in human health.
Given its location within a research institute, the platform is used in the context of research aimed at advancing scientific and medical knowledge and more rarely for the development of applications (such as the development of diagnostic tests ).
To do this, it recruits, informs, collects data and takes samples (most often a blood test) from participants (witnesses or patients) in two types of contexts:
- So-called “generic” research projects, designed by the platform to make data or samples available to the scientific community as part of preliminary scientific work
- In the context of specific research projects already designed or to be designed by the scientific teams themselves and aimed at meeting a specific scientific objective. The platform then intervenes either as an investigative center, or by making available to other investigative centers the skills of resource persons from the platform.
It works closely with the ICAReB-Biobank in charge of managing the samples (biobanking) of these participants.
