Dr Sáez-Cirión received his PhD in Science in 2001 from the University of the Basque Country, Leioa, Spain. He joined the Institut Pasteur in Paris as a Postdoc in 2003 after a first postdoctoral period at the FDA-CBER in Bethesda. He leads now the Viral Reservoirs and Immune Control Unit. His research is currently focused in understanding (i) the mechanisms underlying control of HIV infection in natural HIV controllers and post-treatment controllers in remission of HIV infection after interruption of antiretroviral treatment; (ii) the factors associated with the establishment of HIV reservoirs and devising new approaches to tackle them.
