About
We are interested in deciphering the relationships that link gut microbiota with the immune system and the brain. So far, the mechanisms underlying these interplay, and most importantly their consequences, remain largely unknown. Therefore we are investigating the mechanisms by which the intestinal microbiota interacts with the central nervous system (CNS) in what is now defined as the microbiota–gut–brain axis. This project not only brings special focus on the impact of microbiota on brain physiology, but it bring also new lights in the field of human mental health since we are currently investigating how changes in the intestinal microbiota could lead to stress-related psychiatric symptoms.
