For many years, I have been working in the field of host cell interaction with M. tuberculosis, and in immunology of TB. I am especially interested in the innate immune response against bacterial infection.
In particular I contributed to elucidating important features of mycobacterial trafficking and antigen presentation in human dendritic cells and to identify DC-SIGN/CD209 as the major M. tuberculosis host cell receptor in human phagocytes. Recently, in collaboration with L. Barreiro from the University of Montréal, I have deciphered the genetic architecture of variation in the immune response of mycobacteria infected dendritic cells.
