Born and raised in Madrid (Spain), I moved to Paris to study at the Ecole Normale Supérieure. I earned my PhD in Physiology and Pathophysiology at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris 6 in 2009. During my doctoral training at the College de France, I investigated the formation and maturation of blood vessels during development and in ischemic diseases. As a postdoctoral fellow, I joined Frederic Geissmann’s lab, in the Centre of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Inflammation (CMCBI, King’s College London, UK), where I studied the development of macrophages. I was recruited as a Group leader in the Development and Stem Cell Biology Department at the Institut Pasteur where I head the G5 laboratory “Macrophages and endothelial cells”.
