Job description
In the frame of a collaborative, internally funded project, a 2-year postdoctoral position is available at the Institut Pasteur, Paris for studies in neuroimmunology/autoimmune psychosis. The work will aim to dissect the role of autoantibodies against different nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the context of psychosis. The successful candidate will sort, clone and isolate patient-derived memory B cells in the Antibodies in Therapy and Pathology lab under the supervision of Friederike Jönsson; and perform functional assays on neuronal cultures and in vivo studies using stereotactic injection of the derived autoantibodies into mice in the Integrative Neurobiology of Cholinergic Systems unit under the supervision of Uwe Maskos.
Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic, independent, and innovative candidate who works well in a team and is eager to drive this translational project forward. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or MD) in neurobiology or immunology. Highly motivated candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, live cell imaging and substantial experience with immunological approaches and in vivo mouse models are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in conducting rodent surgery and analyzing behavior is an asset. Good communication skills and fluency in English are essential.
Successful candidates will work jointly in two interdisciplinary and collaborative teams with long-standing expertise in antibody-driven disorders, and the integrative approaches to dissect the biology of cholinergic circuits.
Application Details
The position is available starting from January 2024 for an initial period of 12 months with secured funding for up to 24 months.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter with a brief description of their research experience, interests, and accomplishments, their CV, and letters of support or the names and contact information for two references before November 1st as a single PDF file to:
