Vishukumar Aimanianda received his Ph.D. from Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore University, India. He joined Pasteur Instiute in 2007 as a postdoctoral fellow, obtained faculty position as Assistant – Charge de recherche in 2010 and currently holding the position of “Associate Professor” (directeur de recherches) as a group leader.
The main research interests of his group are fungal cell wall organization and the role of fungal cell wall during host-pathogen interaction with focus on Aspergillus fumigatus, an airborne fungal pathogen. The current research focus is on elucidating the role of the host humoral immunity against Aspergillus fumigatus and decipering the fate of Aspergillus fumigatus cell wall polysaccharides inside the phagocytes. His group is exploiting cell biology, imaging and “omics” for these studies.
