Françoise Dromer was head of the Molecular Mycology unit from 2002 to 2022. She was also head of the French National Reference Center for Mycoses & Antifungals for 20 years. She is now deputy director, Department of Scientific Careers and Assessment.
Françoise Dromer received her M.D. from the Paris 5 School of Medicine, and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the Paris 6 University (France). She arrived at Institut Pasteur in 1992 as assistant Professor and was deputy director of the French National Reference Center for Mycoses & Antifungals between 1993 and 2001.
She was elected fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology in 2006.
Her main research interests concerned the host/pathogen interactions with focus on Cryptococcus neoformans and cryptococcosis, an opportunistic fungal infection in HIV-infected patients. The epidemiology of invasive fungal infections was her second major field of research.
