‘Quantitative Immunology’ will be the theme of the 10th anniversary of the HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course. We will explore the ongoing transition from reductionist studies, based on the application of genetic approaches in animal models, to a more integrated view of the physiology and pathology of the immune system.
This course will highlight the latest advances in large-scale, quantitative data collection and computational analysis as applied to biochemical aspects of immune cell activation and function, multicellular behavior in tissues and model organisms, and human immune function in health and disease. Lectures will be complemented by a wet lab practicum run by expert tutors to gain experience from basic cell isolation, flow cytometry and RNAseq to generate a rich data set of their own for subsequent analysis.
