The goal of these grants is to encourage and promote scientific collaboration between groups of the Institut Pasteur and the Weizmann Institute of Science. Research groups in the two Institutes that share common scientific interests may submit a joint grant application. This year the Pasteur-Weizmann Council and the two institutes will support three grants in the amount of 70,000 € per project per year (split equally between the two groups) and the duration of the funding will be 2 years.
The major criteria for approval of a joint research grant will be the collaborative character of the project, its scientific excellence and the feasibility of joint research. All subjects of interest for both Institutes are welcome, including, Cell Biology, Immunology, Developmental Biology, Microbiology, Virology, Neurobiology, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology and Environmental Science. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. Whenever possible, prospects of disease prevention or treatment should be emphasized.
In addition, this year the Pasteur-Weizmann Council will support one grant related to COVID-19 in the amount of 100,000 $ (split between the two winning groups) for one year with a tentative extension for another year.
UPDATE (09/10/20): Please be advised that in the current cycle (2020-2021) only one grant (instead of the expected three) will be funded. In addition, this year the program will support one grant related to Covid19.
