My interest is to investigate the pathogenesis of infectious diseases induced by bacteria in respiratory and reproductive systems. Particularly, I focus on pathogen-host interaction and try to understand the mechanisms by which host responses to bacterial infection inducing inflammation and the bacterium evades the host clearance. I am currently studying the innate immune system against Chlamydia trachomatis infection in female genital tract (FGT) using epithelia (cell lines and primary epithelial cells isolated from animal and patient) and small animal models. The aim is to identify host receptor(s) in sensing chlamydia and modulating immune response, and to decipher the role of ISG15 in chlamydia infection process. I also make efforts in developing the new vaccine against C. trachomatis infection in FGT.
