My research started in 1984 in the Unité d’Immunophysiologie Moléculaire directed by Guy Bordenave (Institut Pasteur, Paris), where I worked under the supervision of Robert Girard on the interactions of the lipopolysaccharides with the immune cells.
In 2001, I joined the Unité de Pathogénie Microbienne Moléculaire directed by Philippe Sansonetti (Institut Pasteur, Paris), where I first investigated the modulation of the intestinal epithelial gene expression during Shigella flexneri infection. My work is now focused on commensal bacteria. A few years ago, we analysed the anti-inflammatory properties of Lactobacilli strains. I am characterizing the crypt-specific core microbiota in human and murine intestinal tissues and their variation during dysbiosis.
