In the context of a collaborative research project aiming at developing a rapid and novel diagnostic method for the detection of rabies, the laboratory for bioorganic chemistry of nucleic acids (led by Dr. Marcel Hollenstein) at Institut Pasteur in Paris is recruiting a technician. The appointment is for 18 months starting immediately. An important part of the work will be carried out in the laboratory for lyssavirus epidemiology and neuropathology (with Dr. Laurent Dacheux) at Institut Pasteur in Paris.
Candidates must have been trained in molecular biology and master simple techniques such as nucleic acids extraction, PCR, and real-time PCR. A background in virus culture is also highly recommended since the project requires work in a level 3 security laboratory and handling of viral agents such as lyssavirus. The candidate will need to be vaccinated against rabies (provided by Insitut Pasteur). Candidates should be highly motivated, organized, and capable of working independently while yet reporting regularly on progress.
Candidates should email a CV and a motivation letter to Marcel Hollenstein (marcel.hollenstein@pasteur.fr) and Laurent Dacheux (laurent.dacheux@pasteur.fr).
