A little guide for advanced search:

  • Tip 1. You can use quotes "" to search for an exact expression.
    Example: "cell division"
  • Tip 2. You can use + symbol to restrict results containing all words.
    Example: +cell +stem
  • Tip 3. You can use + and - symbols to force inclusion or exclusion of specific words.
    Example: +cell -stem

The laboratory of “Mechanisms of Epigenetic Inheritance” headed by Dr. Germano Cecere in the Department of Developmental and Stem Cell biology at Institut Pasteur in Paris is offering ERC funded research opportunities for postdoctoral scientists with a strong interest in epigenetics and gene regulation.

In our Laboratory we are using C. elegans as a model system to achieve a molecular understanding of the epigenetic inheritance process in animals. The main objectives of our research are i) to elucidate the mechanisms by which small RNAs and histone modifications are used to transmit epigenetic information across generations, ii) to understand how small RNAs are inherited from one generation to another through the gametes, and iii) to explore the mechanisms by which small RNAs can be transmitted from different tissues and organs to the gametes to propagate epigenetic information acquired from the soma. To achieve such objectives, we have optimized biochemical and genomics tools coupled with sophisticated sorting strategies, so to obtain synchronous populations of individuals, cell types, and organelles at very precise developmental stages.

We are located at Institut Pasteur in Paris, which has a long-standing history of excellence in science and provides an excellent international and multicultural scientific environment with experts in the fields of molecular, developmental, and computational biology. In addition, our Institute has excellent state-of-the-art core facilities, including proteomics, high throughput sequencing, and imaging technologies.

Qualifications

We are looking for highly passionate and motivated candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or any related area of Life Science. Candidates with strong background in biochemistry, molecular and RNA biology, generation and/or analysis of next generation sequencing, mass spectrometry or quantitative microscopy are especially encouraged to apply. Previous experience with C. elegans model would be an asset, but not essential. Successful applicants are expected to have demonstrated ability to work independently, have good organizational skills, work in an interdisciplinary team, and manage multiple tasks. English is our working language. Knowledge of French is not required.

We offer

The position is funded by an ERC consolidator grant for at least three years, and the salary will follow the guidelines for Postdoctoral fellowships of the Institut Pasteur. The candidates will benefit from technical and conceptual training, mentorship, and career development. The candidates will have the responsibility and freedom to shape, lead, and present their research projects.

Application details

Applicants should submit the following information (PDF file formats preferred):

  1. Curriculum vitae with contact information of at least two referees.
  2. List of all publications (including pre-prints).
  3. Motivation letter explaining past research experiences, your career goals, and motivation to join our research program.

Applications should be sent by email to: cecerelab.openpositions@gmail.com

A first round of evaluation will be concluded by April 30th 2021. The application platform remains open until the position is filled. The starting date is flexible but would ideally be summer/fall 2021.
