I am a bioinformatician who works on the evolutionary aspects of respiratory viruses at the CNRVIR.
Bioinformaticians at the CNRVIR alternate between the following tasks:
- surveillance work involving routine analysis of samples, determination of their mutational profiles and linking with phenotypic aspects, and reporting of samples with specific profiles.
- research, including the development of new tools to analyse samples and the analysis of viral data.
My main tasks are related to:
- sequencing data analysis
- estimation of evolutionary aspects of samples through inference of phylogenies
- Determining mutations of interest (e.g. drug resistance mutations).
- Development of new tools to analyse samples/automate such analysis
- Reporting samples of interest (WHO, SPF).
- Various research projects on CNRVIR samples.
