About
Mechanical forces trigger many cellular functions and change the geometry and physical properties of a tissue. Very few studies look at the biomechanisms of invasion of microbes at tissue level.
– In this project we aim to decipher the impact of mechanical forces on the integrity of the colonic barrier and on the microbiome colonisation.
– To quantify the cell mechanics within a tissue, in a spatiotemporal manner, without being invasive we are creating an automated software based on automated image analysis to understand the contribution of tissue forces to homeostasis and diseases.
– As infectious disease models we study the Impact of the peristaltism on the early step of the invasion of the colon by Entamoeba histolytica and by Shigella (in collaboration with N. Sauvonnet) using gut-on-chip microfluidics device (in collaboration with the microfluidics plateform. S. Gobaa and H. Mary) to get a 3D structure under streching
