The Medical Anthropology and Environment group is a team of social sciences researchers focusing on multiple global health problems. We are anthropologists, historians, sociologists and ecologists working primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Some of our projects address human-animal and human-environment interactions and emerging diseases. We are particularly concerned with mobilizing our research to contribute to preparedness and response to epidemic outbreaks. Others projects focus on infant health and vaccination, as well as the problems of diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of viral hepatitis, particularly hepatitis B in sub-Saharan Africa.
We also work in close collaboration with other teams at Institut Pasteur and in the Pasteur network.
