Jerzy started in 2018 as a bacterial geneticists funded by a postdoctoral fellowship as part of the ANR project Fir-OM. He has obtained a permanent research engineer position in 2022. His project focuses on the characterization of components of the outer membrane of Negativicutes (diderm Firmicutes) to understand their function and draw conclusions about one of the main evolutionary transitions in the evolutionary history of bacteria: between diderm (Gram negative) and monoderm (Gram positive) type of cell envelope architecture.
