A little guide for advanced search:

  • Tip 1. You can use quotes "" to search for an exact expression.
    Example: "cell division"
  • Tip 2. You can use + symbol to restrict results containing all words.
    Example: +cell +stem
  • Tip 3. You can use + and - symbols to force inclusion or exclusion of specific words.
    Example: +cell -stem

A new center dedicated to OoC technologies

Choosing the right model system has always been key to the success of any biomedical research project. Today Institut Pasteur and Emulate™ are established a new partnership in order to offer new physiologically-relevant cell assays based on microfluidic Organ-on-Chip technology. The global aim of the project is to implement on the campus a new offer of services based on the Emulate™ system. Practically, after a training period, the selected candidate will drive the experimental implementation of select projects, interface with different PIs of the campus as well as with Emulate™ (Boston) and report on the progress of the different projects on a regular basis.

  • Activities

The project entails performing experiments using microfluidic chips provided by Emulate™. The selected candidate will have to organize the mammalian cell culture (Epithelial and endothelial cell lines plus adult or embryonic stem cells), preform the required live or fixed imaging and analyze the produced data. Good lab management skills and the capacity to interface with the industrial partner would be a strong plus.

  • Expertise

We are looking for a candidate with strong expertise in mammalian cell culture including epithelial and endothelial cell lines and adult or embryonic stem/primary cells. Expertise with imaging, immunostaining and fluorescence-based or microfluidics would also be valued.

  • Skills

The candidate must be highly motivated, creative and capable of independent thinking. He/she should be interested in the development and use of technology for biomedical research. The candidate should be capable of working autonomously and as part of a team; he will be tasked with articulating the collaboration between engineers and biologists in both French an English.

  • Education

The candidate should have a Masters, or higher, degree.

Application / Financial support

Applicants should send their CV, a summary of previous research experience and if possible the names of two references to Samy Gobaa (samy.gobaa@pasteur.fr)

Funding body: Emulate. Duration: 1 years.

The lab

The Biomaterials & Microfluidics group was launched in April 2015 in order to address the bioengineering needs of Institut Pasteur. The objective of the platform is to bridge biology and engineering in order to help the development of biomedical projects with a strong technological focus. We pursue an independent research line focusing on technological development in the field of Organ-on-Chip, advanced stem cell-based assays and 3D scaffolds.
