INTRODUCTION
The Cancer Initiative is a concerted action led by Institut Pasteur laboratories working on cancer. It aims to build and support research on cancer by fostering a multidisciplinary and translational approach within the departments involved in this initiative.

AIM
Through the 2023 M2 Master Students Call, the Cancer Initiative aims at attracting highly qualified students and at fostering research projects related to cancer at Institut Pasteur.

The call proposes funding in the form of scholarships and running costs for IP research teams wishing to host a M2 Master student who will work on a cancer project.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
-The host research entity must be on the campus and involved in the Cancer Initiative.
-The host research entity can only present one application for 2023 call.
-The scientific proposal must be related to one of the 3 main areas:

  • Cancer biology
  • Innovative therapies
  • Cancer and microbes

-The research proposal must be achievable within 4 to 6 months.
-The student must be enrolled in a M2 Master program or equivalent (University, Engineer school, Medical school).
-Candidates of any nationality are eligible to apply.
-Successful fellows should start their work in the host IP entity between January1st and May1st, 2023.

The collaborative projects with a M2 master student working in two different laboratories are welcome and encouraged.

INELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
This call does not consider spontaneous applications. Before applying, the candidate must ensure he/she is accepted by a host research entity of IP in Paris. To find a host lab working on the cancer, go to the Cancer Initiative website and click on one of the three themes (Cancer Biology, Innovatives Therapies or Cancer and Microbes).

FUNDING AND DURATION
The amount of the grant is a maximum of €6,000, covering the student’s stipend and work-related expenses for a period of 6 months. The amount of the grant will be calculated on prorata temporis.

Duration: 4 to 6 months

APPLICATION PROCESS
Candidates’ application files should include the Application Form duly completed and be written in accordance with the call Guidelines.

This application consists of the following components:

  1. Applicant and Topics Information
  2. Summary of the project proposal and its significances
  3. Detailed description of the proposed research project
  4. Updated CV of the Master student
  5. Motivation letter of the Master student for this proposed research project
  6. Publications linked to project

Complete application should be submitted in .pdf format and named as follow: Applicant’s SURNAME Name_ Lab Head’s SURNAME.pdf (example: SMITH John_Lab CARTER).

TIMELINE
Publication of call : October 3rd, 2022
Deadline for submission of proposals : January 13th, 2023
Selection of grantees : end of January 2023
