Since she began her undergraduate training, Magdalena has been passionate about proteins and the mechanisms that regulate their function. She did a PhD in Chemistry at the Universidad de la República (Montevideo, Uruguay) under Dr Rosario Durán’s supervision. Her thesis focused on a Ser/Thr kinase that regulates vital processes in Mycobacterium tuberculosis physiopathology. More recently, she developed a strong interest in using proteomic approaches to understand bacterial infections in a cellular context. With this goal in mind, she joined the “Dynamics of Host-Pathogen Interactions” unit (Institut Pasteur) led by Jost Enninga in September 2016. At Enninga’s team, she used her proteomic expertise to understand how Salmonella successfully reprograms different host cell pathways to create an intracellular niche. At the beginning of 2023, Magdalena went on searching for new adventures, so she joined the Pasteur Proteomics facility as a research engineer to develop single-cell proteomics approaches.
