Daniel obtained his Master’s degree in the lab of Isabel Roditi at the University of Bern (Switzerland). There he investigated the role of proteins associated with cyclic AMP signaling in an in vitro assay termed social motility.
Daniel joined the group to start his PhD in October 2020. His project addresses several questions on how different components (e.g. tubulin) are incorporated during the construction of new flagella, as well as mechanisms on how further assembly is locked in the mature ones. Furthermore, he will investigate how African trypanosomes assemble flagella of different length when progressing through the different stages of the life cycle.
