Présentation
The ERVB project aims to eliminate dog rabies in Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic, in 3 years (including canine vaccination campaigns). It is supported for 3 years (2019-2021) by the Coordination Organization for the Fight against Endemics in Central Africa (OCEAC). This project is carried out in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur de Bangui (Dr. Emmanuel Nakouné) and with the Ministry of Health and Population of the Central African Republic. This project focuses on Bangui but also on 3 strategically chosen peripheral cities (with Boali, Pissa and Sibut), playing the role of outpost (sentinel zones) in the control of rabies in the capital. This project has several components with a “One Health” approach, including in particular 1 / studies on the evaluation of the canine population and on the perception and knowledge of the population vis-à-vis rabies (Knowledge, Attitudes study , Practices or KAP), 2 / the establishment of new rabies centers in the 3 sites and the adaptation of the new WHO recommendations in post-exposure management, 3 / the strengthening of animal rabies surveillance and human and 4 / massive dog vaccination campaigns in the study areas.
