A two-year funded post-doctoral position is available to develop a research program focusing on the mechanisms contributing to HIV remission in natural models of control. The successful applicants will develop their research in the “HIV Inflammation and Persistence Lab” at Institut Pasteur in Paris, under the supervision of Dr Asier Sáez-Cirión.
Dr Sáez-Cirión’s group is interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying control of HIV infection in rare individuals who are able to maintain undetectable viral loads for very long periods of time in the absence of antiretroviral treatment. The successful applicants will realize experiments devoted to understanding the role of cellular immunity and immunometabolism in the control of HIV reservoirs and viremia in HIV infected individuals. The tasks will include: to develop experiments with new tools in cellular biology, immunology and virology, to collect and to validate assays run by technical staff, to analyze and communicate data, to prepare manuscript for publication.
Requirements
The applicant must have a PhD with research skills in the fields of immunology/immunopathology/infectious diseases, be strongly motivated by the study of virus/host interactions, be a team player and have good skills in communicating in English (oral and writing). Experience in the fields of anti-viral immunity and cell biology, self-motivation, ability to work autonomously are additional assets.
