OFFER : Postdoctoral Research Scientist Position in Host Pathogen Interactions
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will establish standard products and technologies that he/she will have to transfer to a company responsible for developing a serotherapy against human botulism. The disease consists in a progressive neuromuscular flaccid paralysis, triggered by neurotoxins produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, that can evolve up to respiratory failure. Currently, mechanical ventilation in intensive care units and serotherapy are the only measures available to reduce the progression of the disease and risk of death.
The researcher will join the Bacterial Toxins Unit at the Institut Pasteur, in Paris, France (https://research.pasteur.fr/fr/team/bacterial-toxins/) that is engaged in a network of Franco-German collaborations established between academic laboratories and industrials partners to address the challenging question of developing broad countermeasures against botulism in Europe. The work will include both in vivo experiments in mice and the implementation of complementary in vitro biochemical and biophysical approaches to define BoNT neutralization titers of equine serum products.
We are seeking a motivated candidate holding a PhD degree in biochemistry or physiology and having expertise in in vivo experiments. The candidate must also have scientific rigor, as well as must have a good background in English to write reports and present the results to the European consortium.
The funding for this position is available for two years with a salary set on the experience of the candidate.
