Characterising the structure and content of extracellular vesicles derived from Legionella pneumophila and human cells
The Project
A postdoctoral position is available at the Institut Pasteur in Paris to analyse the structure and content of extracellular vesicles shed by Legionella pneumophila (Lp-EVs) in vitro and in cellulo.
Our lab at the Institut Pasteur has recently shown that Legionella pneumophila sheds membrane vesicles that transport cargo such as proteins and RNAs in the host cell that helps to achieve better intracellular replication of L. pneumophila. In the here proposed project we have joined forces with the group of G. Lavieu to:
1) characterize this transport at the cellular and molecular levels
2) and to identify the core machinery responsible for L. pneumophila– derived EV delivery.
As part of this project, we search for a postdoc who will employ Cryo EM of and cryo-CLEM of Lp-EVs and hEVs to analyse their structure and cargo.
Where?
The project will be carried out in the Biology of Intracellular Bacteria lab expert in biology of Legionella and the analyses of extracellular vesicles and the Nanoimaging Core facility at the Institut Pasteur and in close collaboration with the group of G. Lavieu at the Université de Paris , expert of human extracellular vesicles (exosomes) (hEvs).
Profile
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field. Prior experience with CryoEM is expected. Technical proficiency in molecular and cellular biology and work with bacterial pathogens would be a significant advantage. High motivation, excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team and with other teams are essential.
