Today, Sylvie Retailleau, Ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche, and Frédéric Valletoux, Ministre délégué chargé de la Santé et de la Prévention, announced the name of the 22 laureates of the first two calls of the “Chaires d’Excellence en Biologie / Santé” grants.
Those grants will finance cutting-edge research projects for 5 years with up to 2M euros per project. Following a highly competitive international call for proposals, we are proud that of the 22 scholarship recipients, 2 PIs are members of our department. This is superb recognition of the high standard of research carried out in our department. We would also like to congratulate the laureate Olaya Rendueles, who has just left the department to set up her team at the CBI in Toulouse.
Romain Koszul is Director of the department Genomes and genetics and head of Spatial Regulation of Genomes unit. He will be PI of the “COMET” project that focuses on the resolution of complex ecosystems using the metagenomics of contact.
Lluis Quintana-Murci is head of the Human Evolutionary Genetics and Professor at the College de France. he proposed the project “EPIGEMI” that will explore the genetics, epigenetic and environmental factors underlined in the disregulated metabolism and inflammatory response in the inhabitants of Polynesia. With the help of its partners at the Institut Louis Malardé in Tahiti, Lluis Quintana-Murci and his colleagues will be able to characterize genetical and immune traits in populations very poorly studied by researchers.
