Soufiane is a PhD student at the Hearing Institute (Institut de l’Audition) and Université Paris Cité. He has a multidisciplinary background in Applied Linguistics, Cognitive Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence. His main research interests are: brain-computer interfaces, auditory neuroscience, machine learning, speech processing, cognitive modeling and signal processing.
He is currently working on the SpeakOut project under the supervision of Dr. Anne-Lise Giraud (Institut de l’Audition) and Dr. Emmanuel Mandonnet (Hôpital Lariboisière-ICM). The aim of the project is to restore oral communication in people with severe speech deficits following a stroke or a neurodegenerative disorder by decoding speech directly from neural signals using an intracortical brain-computer interface.
