Lucas Paoli holds a M.Sc. in Ecology and Evolution from Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris and a M.Phil. in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge. He then obtained his PhD from ETH Zürich in 2023, where he worked on deciphering the genomic blueprint of the global ocean microbiome under the guidance of Prof. Shinichi Sunagawa.
Lucas now works at the Pasteur Institute as an EMBO postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Aude Bernheim. He studies the antiviral immunity of microorganisms, bridging his expertise in environmental genomics and microbial ecology with microbial immunity and molecular biology.
