Laura studied Biology at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), and after she stated her thesis under the supervision of Dr YR. Carrasco, at the Department of Immunology and Oncology, at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnologia (CNB)-CSIC, (Madrid, Spain) to study how innate signals regulates the B cells dynamics. During this period, she developed a high interest in pathogen-immune cell interactions and she continue her research career working on this topic. In 2015, Laura started a postodc at the unit of Jost Enninga to study the bystander activation of epithelial cells triggered by Shigella flexneri infection, combining microfluidics and real time fluorescence microscopy. In June 2020 joined the Cytometry and Biomarquers UTechS (CB UTechS) to work on microfluidic technologies for single cell sorting and high throughput drug screening for 3D organoids.
