After my PhD project on interactions between an insect-specific virus, its host Aedes aegypti and arboviruses, I currently work on RNA virus discovery of mosquitoes and vertebrate wildlife.
Describing novel viruses provides better understanding of evolution and host range for various virus groups. In addition to filling the gaps in the current knowledge of the virosphere, the viromes of invertebrate vectors and vertebrate hosts of important One Health pathogens can serve as necessary contextual data for disease control measures and outbreak preparedness.
I am also involved in collaborative projects on human-pathogenic viruses such as yellow fever virus and SARS-CoV-2.
