The Biological NMR and HDX-MS Technological Platform (BioNMR-HDX, (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/team/biological-nmr-and-hdx-ms-technological-platform/) of the Institut Pasteur in Paris is recruiting a research engineer in solution NMR.
The team provides state of the art solution NMR and HDX-MS techniques to study at an atomic or molecular level protein interactions, dynamics, structure, fragment and ligand screening, post-translational modifications, real-time kinetics, chemical structure of carbohydrates and small compounds. In addition, we provide machine time and expertise to on campus biological NMR experts as well as for chemists for routine analysis. In NMR, the facilities host cutting-edge 800 and 600 MHz spectrometers equipped with cryogenic probes and sample changers dedicated to biological NMR, and a 500 MHz mainly used for routine chemistry. We are at the heart of the Institute core facilities dedicated to structural biology (cryo EM, XR crystallography, biophysics and protein production) and collaborate with many microbiology, virology and structural biology groups in a very stimulating scientific environment.
Job description
The research engineer will work in a team of engineers and researchers dedicated to solution NMR of proteins and other biomolecules. In addition to sharing the responsibilities with another engineer of spectrometer and associated-equipment preventive maintenance, user support and training, as well as technology monitoring, the main activities of the successful candidate will be to autonomously design, perform and analyse NMR experiments to contribute (from design to article writing) to research projects within the campus and abroad. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop her/his own collaborative projects.
Profile requirements
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated candidate with an excellent knowledge of protein NMR and its applications in biology (interactions, dynamics, screening, structure…) to contribute in a mainly collaborative environment. Experience on spectrometer preventive maintenance will definitely be an important asset.
We expect scientifically independent candidates with excellent skills to communicate and interact with users and team members and highly comfortable with team work. The selected candidate will require knowledge in biology and biochemistry to be able to fruitfully interact with campus biologist and should integrate the notion of research to serve collaborators.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in biophysics, structural biology, chemical biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related fields, with several years of post-doctoral work in NMR.
The successful candidate will evolve in a scientifically very stimulating, international environment. A good level of English (oral/written) is a must.
How to apply
Applications should be sent to Iñaki Guijarro (inaki.guijarro@pasteur.fr) and should contain a motivation letter, a full CV and the names and contact information of referent scientists.
