A little guide for advanced search:

  • Tip 1. You can use quotes "" to search for an exact expression.
    Example: "cell division"
  • Tip 2. You can use + symbol to restrict results containing all words.
    Example: +cell +stem
  • Tip 3. You can use + and - symbols to force inclusion or exclusion of specific words.
    Example: +cell -stem
e.g. searching for members in projects tagged cancer

The “Mechanisms of Epigenetic Inheritance” laboratory headed by Dr. Germano Cecere in the Department of Developmental and Stem Cell Biology at Institut Pasteur in Paris offers ERC-funded research opportunities for postdoctoral scientists with a strong interest in epigenetics and gene regulation.

In our Laboratory, we study the role of small RNAs in epigenetic inheritance using the nematode C. elegans as a model system. We are integrating genetic, biochemical, and molecular biology tools with high-throughput genomic and proteomic approaches to achieve a molecular understanding of the epigenetic inheritance process in animals. The postdoc will work on understanding how small RNAs are generated and inherited through the gametes and how they transmit information from one generation to another. In addition, we will study the impact that these heritable molecules have on essential developmental processes and in transmitting the memory of past experiences, such as pathogen infections and other types of stresses. For more information on our research projects, visit our website www.cecerelab.com and our recent publications.

We are located at Institut Pasteur in Paris, which has a long-standing history of excellence in science and provides an outstanding international and multicultural scientific environment with experts in the fields of molecular, developmental, and computational biology. In addition, our Institute has excellent state-of-the-art core facilities, including proteomics, high throughput sequencing, and imaging technologies.

Qualifications

We are looking for highly passionate and motivated candidates holding a recent Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or any related area of Life Science. Candidates with a strong background in biochemistry, molecular and RNA biology, generation and/or analysis of next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, or quantitative microscopy are especially encouraged to apply. Previous experience with the C. elegans model would be an asset but not essential. Successful applicants are expected to have demonstrated the ability to work independently, have good organizational skills, work in an interdisciplinary team, and manage multiple tasks. English is our working language. Knowledge of French is not required.

We offer

An ERC consolidator grant funds the position for at least three years, and the salary will follow the guidelines for Postdoctoral fellowships of the Institut Pasteur. The candidates will benefit from technical and conceptual training, mentorship, and career development. The candidates will have the responsibility and freedom to shape, lead, and present their research projects. Our Laboratory is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment and promoting underrepresented scientists, trainees, and staff.

Application details

Applicants should submit the following information (PDF file formats preferred):

  1. Curriculum vitae with contact information of at least two referees.
  2. List of all publications (including pre-prints).
  3. Motivation letter explaining past research experiences, your career goals, and motivation to join our laboratory and research programs.

Applications should be sent by email to: cecerelab.openpositions@gmail.com

The first round of evaluation will be concluded by March 15th, 2022, and only the selected candidates will be notified of the interview process. The starting date is flexible but ideally in Spring/Summer 2022.
