The Mouse Genetics Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow (or research engineer) to join a collaborative project aimed at uncovering the mechanisms underlying variations in susceptibility to TBEV (Tick-borne encephalitis virus) infection and transmission. This project, conducted in partnership with the Virus Sensing and Signaling Unit and the Ecology and Emergence of Arthropod-borne Pathogens Unit, aims to deepen our understanding of disease pathophysiology, antiviral defenses, and the dynamics of TBEV transmission by tick vectors. Specifically, the recruit will employ in vivo models to assess TBE disease severity, neuroinvasion, and transmission to ticks, while also utilizing in vitro models to analyze the innate immune response triggered by TBEV infection.
The project’s outcomes will include the development of novel mouse models that will contribute to epidemic preparedness and will advance our understanding of the complex interplay between TBEV, its tick vectors, and mammalian hosts.
We are seeking candidates with strong conceptual and experimental expertise in virology, as well as prior experience working with BSL-3 viruses and mouse models of infection (preferred). Excellent teamwork and communication skills in English are essential. Candidates should hold a PhD (e.g. in virology or infectious diseases) and possess at least one first-author publication, including preprints.
The Institut Pasteur offers a congenial, highly dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment. Candidates will benefit from the cutting-edge technological platforms, in particular BSL-3 facilities.
The position is available starting January 2025 and will remain open until filled. This is a 24-month position, and the salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with institutional guidelines.
Interested candidates should submit the following materials in a single PDF file to caroline.manet@pasteur.fr: a cover letter outlining your interest in the position and how your qualifications align with the job requirements, a CV, a brief summary of your previous research experience and a list of publications, and contact information for at least two referees.
