A little guide for advanced search:

  • Tip 1. You can use quotes "" to search for an exact expression.
    Example: "cell division"
  • Tip 2. You can use + symbol to restrict results containing all words.
    Example: +cell +stem
  • Tip 3. You can use + and - symbols to force inclusion or exclusion of specific words.
    Example: +cell -stem
e.g. searching for members in projects tagged cancer

About

The INCEPTION aims to develop a core structure to mobilize data resources, numerical sciences, and fundamental experimental biology in various health issues combining Integrative Biology, Social Science, and Data Science to understand the Emergence of Diseases in Populations and Individuals.

The INCEPTION program addresses societal challenges related to diseases emergence:

  • Global surveillance and monitoring
  • Multi-scale analyses, integrating the ecosystem
  • Social sphere to define health policies
  • New methodological approaches to make sense of biological big-data

Each year, the Inception Symposium serves as a key meeting point for its teams, collaborators, and the broader scientific community, encouraging dialogue across disciplines and promoting innovative research.

Two highlights for the 2025 edition

This year’s symposium will take place on November 25 from 1:00 pm to 6:45 pm in the auditorium and atrium of the François Jacob building and will feature two major moments that embody the spirit of Inception’s interdisciplinary mission:

⇢ Thematic session – Focus on Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) : paving the way to prepare the future of genomics

For this thematic session devoted to Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), essential tools for understanding the genetic determinants of complex diseases, we are delighted to welcome the following guests of honor :

  • Na Cai from the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering, ETH Zurich

  • Sriram Sankararaman from UCLA Computer Science

  • Raphael Malak from the Statistical Genetics Unit, Institut Pasteur

  • Capucine Garnier-Muller from the CeRIS, Institut Pasteur

  • Iuliana Ionita-Laza from the Department of Biostatistics, Colombia University

  • Bogdan Pasanuic from Genetics Department, University of Pennsylvania

  • Eli Barthome from Human Genetics and Cognitive Functions Lab, Institut Pasteur

At the end of this thematic session five flash talks will be presented by young researchers selected among the poster presenters, offering a snapshot of the consortium’s emerging projects (flash talks list coming soon).

⇢ Multidisciplinary Poster Sesssion and Cocktail

Complementing the thematic session, the poster session will showcase the diversity and creativity of projects supported by Inception, from antibiotic resistance modelling to medical imaging innovations, and from evolutionary biology to anthropological perspectives on human health.

Join us for this convivial moment and meet the next generation of Inception researchers while enjoying a buffet and a cocktail, creating an opportunity to exchange ideas, explore new perspectives, and build bridges across disciplines.

The symposium is open to the entire scientific community, including all the Inception partners and beyond. All interested parties are warmly invited to attend.
