INTRODUCTION
The Cancer Initiative is a concerted action led by Institut Pasteur laboratories working on cancer. It aims to build and support research on cancer by fostering a multidisciplinary and translational approach within the departments involved in this initiative.
AIM
Through the 2022 M2 Master Students Call, the Cancer Initiative – supported by the Scientific direction/SPAIS*- aims at attracting highly qualified students and at fostering research projects related to cancer at Institut Pasteur.
The call proposes funding in the form of scholarships and running costs for IP research teams wishing to host a M2 Master student who will work on a cancer project.
*SPAIS: means Department for Scientific Programming and Incentive Actions
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
-The host research entity must be on the campus and involved in the Cancer Initiative. To find a research entity working on cancer in IP Paris, click here.
-The host research entity can only present one application for 2022 call.
-The scientific proposal must be related to one of the 3 main areas:
- Cancer biology
- Innovative diagnostic methods and therapies
- Cancer and microbes
-The research proposal must be achievable within 4 to 6 months.
-The student must be enrolled in a M2 Master program or equivalent (University, Engineer school, Medical school).
-Candidates of any nationality are eligible to apply.
-Successful fellows should start their work in the host IP entity between January1st and May1st, 2022.
–
The collaborative projects with a M2 master student working in two different laboratories are welcome and encouraged.
INELIGIBILTY
-This call does not consider spontaneous applications. Before applying, the candidate must ensure he/she is accepted by a host research entity of IP in Paris.
-It will not be possible to change the name of the applicant after the submission deadline.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The applications will be evaluated by an internal scientific committee, which will review proposals based on the following criteria :
- Scientific quality of the proposal and its relevance to the cancer theme
- Quality of the candidate’s CV and its match with the scientific proposal
- Feasibility / risk balance
- Originality and creativity
FUNDING AND DURATION
The amount of the grant is a maximum of €6,000, covering the student’s stipend and work-related expenses for a period of 6 months. The amount of the grant will be calculated on prorata temporis.
Duration: 4 to 6 months
APPLICATION PROCESS
Candidates’ application files should include the Application Form duly completed and be written in accordance with the call Guidelines.
Complete application should be submitted in .pdf format and named as follow: Applicant’s SURNAME Name_ Lab Head’s SURNAME.pdf (example: SMITH John_Lab CARTER).
