Julie Toubiana is a pediatrician at Necker-Enfants malades University Hospital, an Associate Professor in infectious diseases (MCU-PH, Paris-Descartes University) and an immunologist working on variability of immune responses to severe infections.
In 2017, she joined the Biodiversity and Epidemiology of Bacterial Pathogens (BEBP) research Unit at Institut Pasteur, which hosts the Whooping cough and other Bordetelloses NRC. She is Deputy manager of the NRC, in charge of clinical issues and translational research, and thereby has access to the network of clinicians that collaborate to pertussis surveillance in France.
Julie Toubiana develops research that complements the mainstream host lab research – microbiological surveillance and population biology – by bringing clinical and immunological expertise, thus allowing to bridge the multidisciplinary components needed for an integrative analysis of the infectious diseases we study.
