A postdoctoral position is available in the group “Immunobiology and Therapy” headed by Professor Caroline Demangel at the Department of Immunology, Institut Pasteur, Paris, France (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/team/immunobiology-and-therapy/).
Project
Our lab is interested in host-microbe interactions and their role in genesis of human diseases. Through the study of immunosuppressive strategies evolved by intracellular pathogens, we are looking for new ways to manipulate the immune system.
We aim to investigate the immune and metabolic defenses coordinated by host cell lipid droplets during infection with bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The researcher will characterize how lipid droplets mediate direct bacterial killing, immune signaling and metabolic reprogramming in host cells, using a combination of -omics and cutting-edge imaging approaches.
The position is available immediately. Research will be conducted at Institut Pasteur in the center of Paris, which contains state of-the-art facilities and a highly collaborative research environment with 13 Departments across Biology/Physics/Biomedical fields. This is an ERC-Syg project carried out in close collaboration with the groups of Albert Pol (University of Barcelona, Spain) and Robert G. Parton (University of Queensland, Australia)*.

Profile
Candidates should have expertise in cell biology of host-pathogen interactions and innate immunity or related fields, excellent verbal and written English skills and basic molecular biology, immunology and biochemistry techniques. Experience in mycobacterial genetics, macrophage biology, immune cell signaling, or lipid metabolism will be a plus.
