Endometriosis is a chronic gynecologic disease that occurs when endometrial tissue, which normally lines the inside of the uterus, grows outside of the uterine cavity. Endometriosis is thought to develop when endometrial fragments contained in menstrual fluid flow back into the abdomen through the Fallopian tubes during periods and pathologically attach in the body cavity. The objective of this project is to characterize the endometrial cellular populations contained in menstrual fluid in endometriosis patients and control donors, in order to identify potential biomarkers for non-invasive endometriosis diagnosis.
This pilot project has received financial support from EndoFrance and the Fondation pour la Recherche sur l’Endométriose.
