Présentation
Nollaig Bourke is the Ussher Assistant Professor in Inflammageing in Trinity College Dublin and her research focuses on understanding specific cellular mechanisms being dysregulated during ageing that result in decreased immune responses and pathology in age-related diseases. A particular focus of her group is on inflammation and anti-viral immunity, including COVID-19. Dr Bourke works closely with the TILDA study – the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing – a large-scale, nationally representative, longitudinal study on ageing in Ireland. The Milieu Interieur project has established a collaboration with TILDA to further investigate how ageing affects the activation and regulation of immune responses and the importance of these changes in the initiation and progression of age-related diseases.
