Présentation
The department of Computational Biology of Institut Pasteur Paris is please to host an online bioinformatics/genomics seminar.
The speaker is: Pascal Barbry from CNRS / Université Côte d’Azur.
Pascal is a renowned French genomicist, and one of the leaders of France-Genomique.
He will give a talk about: “From the cell atlas of the human airway tree to the identification of specific cell subsets expressing SARS-CoV-2 receptor“
On Thursday, June 25 2020, at 14h00 CET. The seminar will be online.

If you are unfamiliar with Microsoft Teams, consider setting up the software in advance of the seminar (it takes at least a few minutes, and we will start on time). Please download Microsoft Teams by clicking the meeting link above, and sign up for a free work account (if you select personal, it will instead redirect you to Skype). If you already have a Microsoft Teams account (inside or outside of Institut Pasteur), you do not need to sign up for another one.
This will be the first online seminar hosted by the department. Unfortunately, we cannot serve coffee/tea and macaroons as we do traditionally :| But we still encourage your participation to this exciting talk.

Abstract:
Some results obtained within the framework of the Human Cell Atlas (HCA) will be presented. This international project launched in 2016 aims to identify and describe all the cell types of the human body. It made it possible to constitute a database of all the genes expressed in the cells of the airways (nose until the 11th ramification of the bronchial tree). This data allowed us to search for the expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2, which contribute to the binding of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The properties of these “receptor” cells, as well as several other specific epithelial populations are directly involved in several serious pathophysiological situations (viral infections, asthma, cystic fibrosis). The properties of these cells will be introduced.
