About
A fundamental concept on the development of the natural regulatory cells is that the thymus only exports regulatory T cells after the third day post-birth, implying a differential developmental program controlling the generation of regulatory and naïve CD4 T cells. However, it is known that the neonatal period is a phase crucial for the establishment of natural tolerance. Our research program is the analysis of the dynamics of co-evolution of regulatory and non-regulatory compartments in early developmental stages, when environmental stimulations are still reduced, and the analysis of how the system subsequently expands and diversifies in distinct functional subsets and localizations.
