About
The ECDC coordinates the EURGen-Net, a network for genomic-based surveillance on multidrug resistant bacteria (MDR) of public health importance. ECDC has started new Europe-wide surveys on MDR bacteria, including Enterobacteriaceae, Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The CRBIP is the ECDC contractor in charge of the management and administration of the strain collections to enable re-testing and further investigations of these isolates. CRBIP manages the signature of the Material Transfer Agreements; performs tests of purity, viability and identity of the received isolates; maintains long-term, safe seed stocks of the isolates; performs antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and functional testing for AMR mechanisms.
