Role of the E-protein in intracellular viral behavior (Batiste Boëda, INSERM)
The coronavius genome encodes four major structural proteins: the spike (S) protein, nucleocapsid (N) protein, membrane (M) protein, and the envelope (E) protein. Interestingly (E) has been recently shown to interact with human proteins expressed in infected human epithelium and playing a role in apico-basal cell polarity. We are engaged in the molecular characterization of these interactions in order to understand how and why the coronavirus manipulates cellular polarity pathways.
