My undergraduate education in both biology and applied physics naturally aroused my scientific interest in biological questions at the interface of physics and biology. For example, understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving tissue morphogenesis, and more generally the relationship between the structure of an organ and its function. The cochlea, the mammalian auditory sensory organ, offers a unique opportunity to address these questions in functional, biophysical and biomedical contexts.
