Katja uses neuroimaging and histology to study the evolution and development of the brain. She is particularly interested in brain folding, which she studies using advanced computational neuroanatomy and phylogenetic comparative methods, using large samples of vertebrate species, in particular non-human primates. She is strongly involved in open, reproducible, science and interdisciplinary research: She develops open Web applications to facilitate access to open data, foster collaboration & citizen science (such as https://brainbox.pasteur.fr, https://microdraw.pasteur.fr, https://brain-web.github.io). She has a background in fine arts and in many of her projects she combines art and science as a way to engage with the general public.
