As a research director at the Pasteur Institute, Christel has worked for years on molecular mechanisms of Notch signaling pathway in mammals. She joined the Zurzolo lab in 2016 and is addressing how tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are instrumental in two types of human pathologies: Tauopathies (like Alzheimer’s disease), and Glioblastoma, the most frequent and aggressive brain cancer in humans. Together with Patricia and Giulia, she is using imaging techniques (confocal, lightsheet, Incucyte on living cells) as well as other cell biology and biochemistry approaches to visualize TNTs and monitor their functionality.
