Albert DESCOTEAUX – INRS – Institut Armand-Frappier (Laval, Canada)
To colonize phagocytes, Leishmania subverts microbicidal processes through components of its surface coat that include lipophosphoglycan and the metalloprotease GP63. To exert their action, these virulence factors redistribute beyond the parasitophorous vacuole. How this is accomplished is poorly understood. Recent advances on the impact of lipophosphoglycan and GP63 on host cells function and their trafficking will be discussed.
